Exploring Careers...in Robotics

When you imagine a robot, you might picture something a little...futuristic. But robots are already hard at work in ways we might not imagine: preparing our Amazon packages, detonating explosives and even exploring other planets.

In the PBL Project "How Do I Prepare for a Career in Robotics?" students will explore the past, present and future of robotic technology to determine if they could succeed in this emerging Career.

  • Lesson 1: Focuses on developing an appreciation of the strides made in Technology and Robotics.
  • Lesson 2: Introduces students to current technology, on Earth, below the seas, and in Space: The Final Frontier. Each activity will focus on Robotic Technology and how it is used.
  • Lesson 3: Continues the "Journey of Discovery" to understand education, training and certifications needed to land their dream job in the Robotics Industry.
  • Lesson 4 and The Culmination Activity will have students demonstrate their Robotics knowledge by 'pitching' a Robotics Program to school administrators and other adults.

This project is brought to you by Erik Amerikaner with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and detailed coordination provided by Team Lead Josh Bradley.
